Nota de Falecimento / Death Note
O Diretor-Presidente da Feneis, Francisco Eduardo Coelho da Rocha, lamentou, nesta terça-feira (19/07/2016), a morte do ex-presidente da World Federation of The Deaf – WFD, Dr. Yerker Andersson. Em nota divulgada pela Secretaria de Comunicação da Feneis, Francisco prestou solidariedade à família e reconheceu a contribuição de Yerker para a comunidade surda internacional.

“É com grande tristeza que comunico o falecimento do Professor, Doutor, Deafhood e ex-presidente da WFD, Sr. Yerker Andersson, uma pessoa de convicções democráticas e de respeito e justiça, que se tornou o primeiro surdo a participar da Assembleia da ONU – Organização das Nações Unidas -, em 1992, graças a convivência e imersão linguística com o Povo Surdo, assim como devido ao seu empenho na defesa dos Direitos Humanos de surdos de todo o mundo.
Sempre lutou pelos ideais e pela profissionalização da comunidade surda, pelo que fará enorme falta. Frente a isso, a Feneis, em nome do Povo Surdo e Comunidade Surda brasileira, presta homenagens, com pesar, à memória do Sr. Yerker Andersson, bem como a sua esposa, Nancy Andersson, aos filhos, amigos e familiares.

The CEO of Feneis, Francisco Eduardo Coelho da Rocha lamented, on Tuesday (07/19/2016), the death of the former president of the World Federation of The Deaf – WFD, Dr. Yerker Andersson. In a statement issued by the Department of Communication Feneis, Francisco gave solidarity to the family and recognized the Yerker contribution to the international deaf community.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Professor, Doctor, Deafhood and former president of the WFD, Mr. Yerker Andersson, a person’s democratic convictions and respect and justice, which became the first deaf to attend the UN General Assembly – the United Nations – in 1992, thanks to interaction and immersion with deaf people, as well as due to its commitment to the defense of human rights of deaf people around the world.
Always fought for the ideals and the professionalization of the deaf community, so make huge shortage. Faced with this, the Feneis, on behalf of the people and Deaf Community Brazilian Surda, pays homage with regret to Mr. Andersson Yerker memory, and his wife, Nancy Andersson, their children, friends and family.
